Reds Goalkeeper Ross Turnbull was pleased to be back in the side following a battle against a troublesome back problem over the past six weeks.
The 29-year-old made his first appearance for the Reds as a full-time player in Saturday’s defeat at Port Vale, following two loan spells at Oakwell ten years ago.
Speaking about his injury troubles, Turnbull said, “I can still feel it but it’s started to gradually get better.
“I can get on with training and playing games now. I’ll manage it and through time it’ll, hopefully, disappear.
“Gradually, game by game, my performances will improve and I'll get my match-sharpness up.
“It’s good to be back playing.
“It’s never nice to lose a game in the last few minutes but it’s not the first time and won’t be the last. We’ve got to pick ourselves up and go on another run hopefully now. We’ve got to pick up points at home and keep that away form that we have shown this season, then we’ll certainly climb that table.
“Home form is going to be vital and it’s always nice to win your home games in front of your home fans. We’ll pick ourselves up and work hard.”
Turnbull, who had spells with Chelsea and Doncaster Rovers before returning to Oakwell, also paid tribute to fellow shot-stopper Adam Davies, who started off the season in goal for Barnsley – making his first senior appearances.
“Adam’s done fantastically well whilst I was out so it’s up to me now to put the performances in,” added Turnbull.
“I’ve never seen Adam before and to play his first couple of league games, he’s been brilliant. I’ve been in the same situation where someone’s come back. We’ve both go to work hard. I’ve got the shirt and it’s up to me now. It’s a squad game and there’re always injuries through the squad, everyone’s got to play their part if we’re going to be successful.”
