Ramage Raring To Go

24 March 2015

Reds defender Peter Ramage made his comeback from injury in yesterday's Reserve clash against parent club Crystal Palace.

The 31-year-old's last Reds appearance was a goal-scoring one against Fleetwood at Oakwell in early February, and the centre-half explains it was good to be back.

"It's been frustrating, it's been six weeks," he told barnsleyfc.co.uk. "Yesterday's match was the last tick of the Sedgy (Craig Sedgwick - Head Physio) box!"

Ramage played the whole of the first half as his parent Club secured a 2-0 win on the Oakwell training pitch.

"Thankfully, I've come through unscathed," he added. "I feel fine. It was a good test. I know all the Palace boys so I knew what I would come up against. It was a good test for all of us, not just myself.

"Hopefully I can push for the squad. I had to ring and get permission from Palace to play, believe it or not! I just wanted 45 minutes under my belt to start pushing for selection.

"I thought we put up a good performance, despite the result."

Despite 'Rambo's' frustration at missing out, he has been delighted to see an upturn in form.

"After the Crawley game, everyone came at us from all angles," he added. "We knew within the group we had the performances and the results in us, but it's about proving that. We got a bit carried away although our position, admittedly, was precarious - two points off the relegation zone - but we've stuck together and got the fruits of our hard work. We're where we want to be in the business end of the season.

"These performances and results have been there, just not on a consistent basis. Throughout the season, prior to this run, we've shown what we can do in little spurts. But now we're starting to do so at the right time and we might just sneak a Play-Off spot in the end."
