Familiar Voice Returns to Oakwell

26 July 2014

A familiar voice makes a return to Oakwell...

Jason Thelwell, who provided the match day entertainment for 11 years - including the Reds' Premier League stay and Wembley appearance - has rejoined the club.

Jason, who lives in Stairfoot, first hit the Oakwell microphone in 1992 and hosted match days until 2003 when he left to present the football programme on Dearne FM. The popular DJ decided to hang up his headphones a few years ago but didn't hesitate to become part of the Reds' journey once again.

"When the club offered me the opportunity to return, it was a no-brainer to be honest," said Jason. "I have some great memories and had some memorable times at Oakwell. Like all fans, the promotion season and the Bradford game is something no one will forget and I hope I can play my part in bringing the good times back. I remember announcing the Player of the Year awards and Gerry Taggart won, I had to announce his name three times before he realised. When he arrived at the presentation table, I told him that it wouldn't have taken him so long if I had announced last orders would it."

Jason is looking forward to reprising his antics with Toby Tyke and making sure supporters are kept entertained. The Reds' Premier League manager is back and now the Premier League DJ...Now there's a thought...
