Danny's Charlton Reaction

15 April 2014

Reds Manager Danny Wilson gave his thoughts following tonight's 2-1 victory at Charlton.

"I thought in fairness to Charlton, they started the game really positively but without causing us any real problems at the back," said Wilson, speaking to Barnsley Player.

"We played good counter-attacking play and then we put one brilliant ball into the box from the corner and big Jean is at the back to head it home. You have to say well done to the big man, he's deserved it.

"That gave us a real edge in the game.

"Second half, we started very well. Overall I felt we were very much in control of the game and didn't look, in my opinion, under any pressure.

"Again, i don't think Steely had anything to do until a save right at the end.

"Then, out of the blue, they get a goal which obviously makes a grandstand finish. They showed great character, the lads. They played out with a bit of aplomb at times in terms of cleverness in how we passed the ball out of situations.

"To lose the two full-backs as we did was a testing time for us."

Speaking of the 956 travelling Tykes, Wilson added, "In this atmosphere to hear the fans like they were was a credit to them. There's a long journey home and now they can enjoy it because it's not always a nice journey when you haven't got a result.

"It's given everybody that belief again and we've got a fantastic game at the weekend."
