Williams: "We're all feeling good and sharp!"

13 January 2017

Reds midfielder insists the squad are fighting fit and raring to go against Fulham tomorrow.

Barnsley winger Ryan Williams is hoping to continue to build on his excellent recent form with another strong performance against former employers Fulham.

The Australian spent three years as a player for the Cottagers but only made two league appearances during his time at the club.

This season, the midfielder has made six appearances following a lengthy spell out with injury and netted the winner for the Reds in last month’s 4-3 victory over Cardiff City.

He hopes to use that and his recent form as motivation to kick on and get more minutes under his belt as he continues his return from injury.

Williams said: “It’s good because I’m getting there slowly but it’s getting there. I’m just slowly adding to it with the goal, then adding to it with the start and hopefully I can continue to add more to it.”

Williams is relishing a return to his former side Fulham when the clubs face off tomorrow and is looking forward to seeing a number of familiar faces.

It should be good,” he added. “It’ll be the first time I’ll have played there for another club so it should be good.

“I’ve still got a lot of friends there like the backroom staff, a few players, some of the people at the top as well and I’m quite excited to see them.”

The Reds are hoping to extend their five-game unbeaten run when they travel to the capital and move even closer to the play-off places.

But the winger also outlined what to expect from his former side and the threats that they carry coming forward.

“We’re expecting good football, quick passing and counter attacking. All of their players are really good on the ball and good technically so it’s going to be a hard one but it should be good.

“We’re all feeling good and sharp, all of the boys in training give 100 percent and we’re feeling good,” he added.
