The Reds enjoyed a superb end to 2016 with Paul Heckingbottom’s side picking up four wins and a draw from six games in December! It was an excellent run which propelled the Reds up the Sky Bet Championship league table and took them to within touching distance of the Play-Off places!
Barnsley kicked off December with an emphatic 3-0 win on the Road at Birmingham thanks to a Marc Roberts header and a brace from Sam Winnall, before Norwich City we’re put to the sword the following week in a 2-1 victory at Oakwell. The next win came a week later in an unforgettable 4-3 victory away at Cardiff City with Ryan Williams firing home in the 95th minute to secure a huge three points for the Reds in the Welsh capital! The free flowing football continued over the festive period with the Reds claiming a solid 2-0 Boxing Day win over Blackburn Rovers on home soil. Finally, the lads ground out a hard fought 2-2 draw with Birmingham City on New Year’s Eve here at Oakwell. It was certainly a fantastic month, yielding 13 points, to cap off a truly memorable year for everyone connected to Barnsley Football Club!
