U18s | PREVIEW: Sheffield Wednesday vs Barnsley

2 December 2016

All the important information for tomorrow's South Yorkshire derby with Sheffield Wednesday.

Chris Howarth and Martin Devaney's Under 18s side travel to Sheffield Wednesday tomorrow morning in the Professional Development League.

The Reds are unbeaten on their travels in the division since March, winning three and drawing three of their six away games so far.

However, a difficult run of games recently has seen Barnsley take just one win from their last four outings, which has seen them slip to seventh in the Northern section of the table.

The Reds have been unfortunate to slip to defeats in their last two matches and are aiming to avoid a third straight league defeat against Wednesday.

Barnsley have not won away against Wednesday since January 2014, when they came away as 1-0 winners against the Owls.

This fixture has traditionally been a close one, with the Reds winning three of the previous nine matches, drawing two and losing four.

Wednesday themselves head into the game with only one win from their last three fixtures, but sit fourth in the Northern section of the table.

The Owls have only secured one win on their own turf in their last three matches but like the Reds, have had no trouble finding the net.

Wednesday have found the net 33 times so far this season compared to the Reds' 28, but both sides have been leaky in defence, conceding 62 goals between them.

Barnsley have only secured one win against  Sheffield Wednesday in their last five attempts, coming in August when the Reds won 3-2 at home through goals from Sam Tingle, Adam Lund and Louis Wardle.

Kick off for tomorrow's game is at 11am at Sheffield Wednesday's Middlewood Road training complex.
