George Moncur spoke to the media following an excellent victory over Blackburn at Ewood Park.
The midfielder started the match and was a solid influence in the heart of the Reds midfield, before being replaced late on by fellow midfielder Alex Mowatt.Victory for the Reds has secured them Championship football for another season, a reward he feels is thoroughly deserved by the side.
On the win, Moncur said, "I think it was a great result, I believe that means we're still in the Championship for next year, which is a great bonus so well done to the lads.
"With a great start like that today, I think it would have been iffy if we did throw the game away because getting off to a great start, we deserved to get something from the game.
"You don't think about that as players but when the manager tells you before the game if we win we're definitely in the Championship, it makes it a lot more appetising to play your football in the Championship rather than in the lower leagues. Credit to the lads, to stay in this league after coming up last season is brilliant.
"Never put anything past this team because they've done some great stuff last season when I wasn't here, they were near the bottom at Christmas and then getting promoted, you can't write anything off for these lads," Moncur said.
Rotation and injuries for Barnsley meant Moncur began the day in the centre of midfield, with Matty James acting as a holding midfielder behind him and Josh Scowen alongside. He explained what it is like playing in the centre of the park alongside his teammates.
Moncur added, "Playing with a two is different to a three because you can rotate more and get more space and when it's two against you, you get more joy because you have the advantage on them. It's always nice to play in a three and it's really good."
The versatile midfielder has outlined his own personal goals between now and the end of the season and hopes that he can leave a last impression on Head Coach Paul Heckingbottom to stay firmly in his plans heading into next season.
"We have five games left and when we're at our best, counter-attacking football, passing and moving, we're more than a match for any team in this league.
"I think I have to try and get as many games as I can because I went on loan, I've come back and got around the team more which I wanted to do and it's about playing minutes and every time I go on the pitch, it's about trying to impress." he added.
